    Ruth Hyde – Tourism Director


    Ruth manages the team in delivering East Midlands Tourism’s (EMT’s) three-year strategic plan, which aims to significantly increase the economic value of the region’s visitor economy. She is responsible for liaising with a wide range of stakeholders including the region’s Destination Management Partnerships as well as public and private sector organisations such as VisitBritain, Britain’s national tourism agency.
    As well as engaging with the tourism community and key stakeholders, Ruth represents the region’s tourism industry at national level working closely with the tourism leads from Englands other Regional Development Agencies.

    Bridget Kirk – Tourism Assistant

    Bridget is the first point of contact for the team. She supports the director by managing her diary, her meeting schedule and her communications. She also manages meetings for EMT’s council members and the Executive Group as well as supporting the chair of the EMT Council.

    Una Mullan – Team Manager, Marketing & Communications

    Una heads up the marketing and communications team with responsibility for ensuring that emda’s investment in domestic and inbound tourism marketing and PR delivers a return on investment of £17 for every £1 spent. In addition to this, she is the EMT lead on a Commercial Channel Distribution project working with external private partner, Centes, and the region’s five destination management partnerships to ensure that more of the region’s tourism product is on-line bookable and sold through a greater range of distribution channels.

    Bernadette McAndrew - Communications Manager

    Bernadette works with four consumer PR agencies in the UK, France, Germany and Netherlands on awareness raising activity for the region’s tourism destinations and product. In addition, she is also responsible for stakeholder communications including the issue of a bi-monthly newsletter, Address Tourism, and the maintenance of this website.

    Kirsty McMahon – Media & PR Assistant

    Kirsty supports the communication manager with all consumer and corporate PR activity. This involves organising press trips for international journalists, managing the content of the corporate website, responding to media requests as well as contributing to the quarterly newsletters.

    Emma Salisbury – Marketing Campaigns Manager

    Emma is responsible for managing the delivery of pan-regional marketing campaigns that focus on key inbound markets including Germany, Netherlands, France and the United States. She works closely with a wide range of partners including East Midlands Airport, bmibaby, P & O and VisitBritain. She also overseas the monitoring of the Destination Management Partnership’s domestic marketing activity.

    Sarah Blackwell – Marketing Officer

    Sarah is responsible for managing inbound consumer campaigns in France, Germany and the Netherlands, working closely with a number of partners including East Midlands Airport, BMI Baby and P&O.
    Sarah also manages the content of the consumer website www.discovereastmidlands.com as well as the French German and Dutch versions.

    William Smart – Team Manager – Performance & Evaluation Manager

    William is responsible for overseeing business support and skills activities as well as research relating to performance of the visitor economy in the region and also the impact of all EMT-funded tourism marketing campaigns. His responsibilities also include monitoring overall performance against the EMT Strategic Plan 2008-11.

    Claire Lambert- Investment & Research Manager

    Claire’s role is to identify and facilitate capital investment opportunities for the visitor economy across the region. Alongside this Claire also manages EMT’s Quality Improvement Programme and works with the Destination Management Partnerships to develop pilot schemes that meet the individual destinations needs.  Claire is also responsible for managing the application and selection process for the East Midlands Tourism Enjoy Excellence in England Awards

    Mike Baulcombe – Marketing Campaigns Manager

    Mike Baulcombe Mike is responsible for managing and delivery of the Visitor Economy strand of the East Midlands Strategy for the 2012 Games. This includes working with a range of national, region and sub regional organisations to ensure that the region maximises the tourism benefit, before, during and after the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012. He is also responsible for delivering domestic travel trade marketing for the region working with the sub regional Destination Management Partnership delivery bodies.
